I finally fulfilled one of my life's ambitions and hiked in the Grand Canyon. The sheer scale and majesty of the place is hard to take in and I spent a good long while just gazing at everything. I hiked the whole edge of the rim, which was a good few miles, and also made my way down into the canyon until my calf strain forced me to turn back.
The silence around the park was broken by flies and I'm convinced the same four flies followed me for the whole journey! No amount of swatting would make them leave me alone.
I'm definitely coming back here again and this time planning on a two day hike to the Colorado River and back.
